I have applied the Loctite 243 to the screw and also to the threaded hole on the down tube brazeon for shifter. At first it seems I applied too little of it, so after 2 hours of drying - the bolt got loose anyway. Second time I applied alot of the stuff (mentioned in the first sentence), to the screw and the threaded hole. Tightened it alot with a screwdriver, and left it to dry overnight.

This morning I commuted a little and tried the shifter, it's tight, but still not too much, the lever works okay and the screw did not unscrew with moving the lever. Though I have not tried to shift like a maniac - but so far it did not fail me and the screw is kept securely in the place. On saturday I'll go for a 100km ride and see how it responds.

Yes I saw an auction on ebay for small money with seller being in Poland, something like 9$ shipping which is pretty cool, though I think the main problem (with the SIS being broken) are the busted threads in the downtube, so a new shifter lever would have the same problems as the old one. Fortunately, friction still works with this shifter (at least I managed to make it work), so I'm going to use it for some time. When I'll have money, I'll order a working 600 shifter and redo the Loctite process, it seems it works. For now - I'll just ride!
