I concur.

I've been car-free long enough that my license has expired--twice. One time it had been expired long enough that I had to start all over again with the written test, five-hour course, and road test.

Lemme tell you, there's nothing quite so embarrassing as being in your 50s at the five-hour course, having arrived by bicycle. The assumption is that you're a DUI driver.

Anyway, that's how little I use my license for things other than ID--long enough that it expires for years without my noticing. Still, I keep it up, just in case.
