Sounds like a good theory but if you ever bend one of the hopes give the Magura rotors a shot. I doubt you will have any problems with them either. We have some pretty long descents around here as well (WV) and I have never had a problem. I have also used them at Pisgah (NC) and at Moab with zero problems.
