I went outside and shone my flashlight around and I could see it's eyes occasionally through the trees as it circled me and kept screaming like a demented child. Pretty sure it was a bobcat that wasn't too impressed with me camping so close to it's den. Kept me up pretty much all night.
Common barn owls let out horrifying screeches, and I swear they do it on purpose as they swoop over your head in the dark...
