Interesting.... I just bought a rack for my latest n+1. A Planet Bike Eco Rack. The guy at the LBS said "you're going to need a new place to mount your flasher, what kind do you have, is it a superflash?". I said I had a Superflash at home. The bracket he put on does not look anything like what is pictured above. Mine is designed to hold a Superflash with its clip already mounted. Then you slide the clip into a slot on the top of the bracket that is fixed to the bicycle. Looks kind of like those old fashioned beer bottle openers....H
What you're describing sounds like the one that chefisaac linked to in the original post. It's the one I use and the clip is always on my superflash...the superflash just slides into the slot on the mount. It may be that I can't visualize what you're describing, though.
Here's a shot of my light with the clip already mounted. The nice thing about the clip is I can transfer the light from my commuter to the tab on the seat bag on my road bike, and also to a PB seat post mount on my other commuter.
