My last focused race is the Iceman Cometh mtb race in Northern MI on Sat. The weather is predicted to be low-30's during the two hour race. I'm really on the fence as to dressing. Race speed won't increase wind chill like a RR but under dressing could be a factor. Right now I'm thinking light weight tights, toe covers, winter weight gloves, but I'm not sure about wearing a heavy Under Armor LS base with LS team jersey and nylon wind vest, or skip the Under Armor and wear a winter jacket. I also have a thermal vest that could go under the jersey and over the heavy base.
Wearing the heavy gloves limits reaching into pockets for the GU flask and I will probably tape a few partially opened packets to the top tube. I do drink while racing in cold weather and might just put the Hammer Gel in the Gatorade bottles if its above freezing. The only problem with that method is the gel is metered out over the race and might be too late.
