Bikes would solve almost everything!

Hurricane Sandy has made a mess of NYC and NJ. It's affected transit systems in a bad way. I am watching the tube right now and see endless lines of cars trying to make it over the bridge to Manhattan with a HOV restriction of 3 passengers, as well as confused / angry lines of people waiting to catch multiple shuttle buses which are replacing underground trains. As I watch the frustrated efforts of people trying to get to work I can't help but thinking bicycles / push scooters would help a LOT of transit issues??? The weather is certainly nice right now.

If I get better* today I might try and venture out on the MTB to see what traffic looks like.
