Good point. The cable is really bad, worse then it looks in the picture. I asked him to pick up new cables, but alas, he didn't. That being said, I never considered shortening the housing and then trimming the cable. Great idea. And we did forget to put on the ferule, but I didn't want to risk not getting the frayed cable back through the brake. haha.
