Pull together for a long hard slog to recover.
Nearly everyone in the cosmopolitan parts of Canada has some personal connection with New York (which to us up here includes New Jersey -- we're a little weak on the geography some times.) Just as airport towns like Gander, Nfld., sheltered your diverted flights on 9-11, we see our good fortune in having been spared from this storm as opportunity, capacity, and obligation to provide assistance. I don't know what requests your authorities have made to Canada but you should know that we'll answer our closest friends unstintingly. I do know that the chair of the Toronto Transit Commission has offered engineering workers to help the MTA get the subways running again. But geez it looks like a terrible daunting job.
Godspeed New York.
