I know they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but I’m sure as hell going to have a lot of fun trying. As implied in my original post, riding fixed off the track is a completely new experience for me – it requires different skills and technique and very probably a different type of bike altogether.

As for my abilities, like I said it’s an all new experience, but having done well over 300,000 miles on the track in my time, I’m probably one step ahead of your average newbie.

I have a rough idea of what I’m looking for, and when I can find the time I’ll attempt to specify my requirements and expectations more precisely. And yes, I have been looking around, in fact over the last 3 weeks I have read virtually every relevant thread in this forum. Besides I thought the whole idea of having a forum like this was a dynamic and living discussion, as well as a solid knowledge base. I too can goggle.

In any event, presuming for the sake of argument that this thread is completely redundant, why did you bother replying in the first place?
