I gave the Pugsley a weighing with a digital fish scale tonight. With rack and fenders it came in at 42 lbs. Based on weights I found online I calculated that 9 lbs of that is just the tires and tubes.
As I was riding home this afternoon I thought it looked like it was going to rain. 15 minutes after getting home it started to pour. The Garmin Edge 500 I ordered arrived today, so I'll be able to see how fast I'm riding. I might get a cadence sensor, but for speed I'll just rely on GPS.
9 pounds sounds about right for the wheelset on a Pug, mine were a little over 8 with SS wheels... the back wheel on my winter bike has an SA three speed w / generator and a massively studded tyre and this wheel and tyre combo weighs 9 pounds all by itself.
