You can use the same standard 3/32" chain, e.g. an SRAM PC-58, for any 5, 6, 7, or 8-speed setup (been there ... done that; converted a few standard 6-speeds to [ultra] 7-speeds without swapping chains). The 9-speed and 10-speed cassettes require their own special, even narrower, chains.
