As a PT that works with hip replacements on a daily basis you should breeze through it. Many of the Docs around here don't even send their patients to Physical Therapy. In prep for surgery, get as strong as possible. There are many different techniques for hip replacement. Find out which method your surgeon uses, and that will determine the precautions that you will have to abide by and gives a rough estimate of recovery. Couple of Docs here do an Anterior replacement which results in NO precautions afterwards. You could also check with local PT's and ask which surgeons patients recover fastest. Locally here, some are way better than others.
