Just to be clear on this important issue: I'm in the $20 umbrella stroller camp.

Mostly because they're light and easy to fold up/carry when you don't need them (and they do have canopy attachments), or if you want to take the stairs/escalator instead of waiting for an elevator, etc.. I frequently used one on subway trains etc. I can see the value in the deluxe ones with bigger wheels, etc. but it's like having an SUV to me (I drive a sedan). Actually we were handed down a nicer used stroller and never used it (just passed it on to someone else in the end).
Yeah, the escalator thing is huge round these parts. Having a big stroller on an escalator is a way to get laser eyes staring into the back of your head.
