To answer the second half of your question, a lot of bike tyre/rim sizes are actually a load of marketing bollocks rather than any actual indication of size. The actual empirical value is bead seat diameter. Read this, as Sheldon explains it far better than I can.

As for your rim width, I'm not familiar with your bike's spec, so I'll let someone who is answer that part.
