It was designed for a mountain hanger with more drop. Works great on my son's Trek 614 with a 28t largest cog. Might index with Shimano mountain bike shiffters. Hope this helps!
Thanks - this is helpful. I typically use double ring drivetrains with no more than a 28 tooth rear cog.
Have you tried to index the Quartz derailleur using Shimano shifters? I know that Shimano rear MTB and road shifters are cross-compatible.
I know through direct experience that the early 90's Sachs New Success derailleurs are Campagnolo index compatible, but I am trying to establish if the Quartz derailleurs are as well.
