Thanks - this is helpful. I typically use double ring drivetrains with no more than a 28 tooth rear cog.

Have you tried to index the Quartz derailleur using Shimano shifters? I know that Shimano rear MTB and road shifters are cross-compatible.

I know through direct experience that the early 90's Sachs New Success derailleurs are Campagnolo index compatible, but I am trying to establish if the Quartz derailleurs are as well.
