Today I finally broke loose a stuck seat post! I took on the challenge about a year ago, doing several 20 minute sessions a day over a period of about a week. Gave up, forgot about it. Then I took the bike back home with me the last time I went to my Dad's, and finally got to it again tonight.
Tried the seat in table vise method first, then the last resort was the vertical hacksaw slit. Tonight I resorted to hot-cold with hairdryer and cool water, and then finally stuck a big drill bit in the hole, attached to a hammer drill. That weakened the inner wall of the seat post and I was finally able to twist it out with pliers and a few more hot-cold flashes. A total of probably 4-5 hours of labor, but the sense of relief feels really nice.
It was aluminum/aluminum on a pretty mediocre Fuji Finest, but I've been needing to sell this bike forever and finally I can sell it in good shape/clear conscience.
