I think a good line to consider is: taking a low-end bike, and rebadging it as another similar low-end bike vs. taking a low-end bike and rebadging it as a high-end bike. JPZ66 brings up a good point, that even with disclosure, as the bike is passed along, the story can be lost and potentially someone could get perhaps even unintentionally 'duped' down the line. That would be a bummer.
