I doubt sharrows would affect much improvement here. It is sometimes scary to see how many people percieve their right side as being clear when they are in fact a foot over the white line! For a while they had milled white lines like they have for yellow and that was a nice thing. It at least gave a bit of warning for oblivious drivers and for the rider on the other side of it. Some reason they don't make them any more.
