I do the conduit, but just slide it through the wheels. The only problem is if you want the set of wheels in the middle you have to unload half the rack. I use it primarily for storage of wheels that I am not sure what I am going to do with any time soon. Rims and tires go on one end wheels that I will need shortly go on the other.
