As for rain coats, pretty silly to put on a husky unless trying to give it a heat stroke. That said, I do put a bathrobe on him when he comes in wet. A 20 minute vigorous towel down still leave splatters all over the apartment when he shakes.
And yes, I do have booties for my husky!
We were out for a ride/run (not a tour), when a car passed me from one direction. Then passed me 3 minutes later from the other. When it came back by again, my hackles rose. It pulled into a driveway and a man got out and waved me down. Cautiously, I pulled over and he smiled, saying he'd gone home to get booties for my barefoot husky when he saw me. They were homemade from old jeans and Velcro.
They long since wore through, but I used them for patterns which I've tweaked into perfect fits for my dog. Every time I go for more than a 5 mile outing with the furry one, he's booted.
I still smile when I think of that random kindness.
My Denver cousins had a malamute which loved the cold winter weather, he was fine sleeping in his dog house even at 0 F. Nice of that guy to fetch the booties for your husky. I bought some for the Dalmatian but they wouldn't stay on, perhaps because Dals have narrow paws (& sharp pointy claws too; getting a bare foot stomped accidentally by a Dal is remarkably painful). Anyway, it's pretty common for dogs to get paw cuts esp when they get carried away & run too fast but avg dog owner never thinks about that. BTW I'm wondering if you ever harnessed your husky & had him tow you around?
(Cesar Millan does that while roller-blading.) Some neighbors had an ill-trained husky that I took for a walk once & the dog nearly pulled my arm off. But a well-trained dog (such as yours I'm sure) would be able to modulate the towing according to command. Or maybe even while touring, have the dog tow a trailer with the luggage?
