For me, I've been riding to work regularly for 30+ years (>4000 times). If people want to think poorly of me for dressing in clothing that helps me manage sweat, doesn't chafe, doesn't flap, keeps me warm or cool depending on conditions they can, to use the British phrase 'bugger off'.
The 'normal' clothes crowd can wear what works for you. I won't think...well I won't
post... any less highly of you for doing so. I won't laugh at your grease stained pants leg or at your sweat stained shirts or your mud splattered suit coat or your uncomfortable chafing problems. I just ask for the same courtesy in return.
Hey don't get me wrong, I don't pass judgment on any other cyclist. But other people (i.e. non-cyclists) will, and I'd rather just blend in with the crowd.
If you don't care, you are a more confident person than I am.
