I still use the CB Quattro pedals so have been using the three-hole cleat from CB since at least 2007 (I have a picture of my bike from that summer; don't recall when I first installed the quattros.) I've also used them with the Candy pedals. Never had reason to try them with the original eggbeaters on my mtn bike.

Anyway, the three-hole cleat works great on road shoes. The hard rubber piece that goes around the sides and back of the cleats makes for easy walking in the shoes but I have never felt it get in the way of clicking in or out of the pedals. The durability is as good as any other CB cleat.
