There is no good reason to not fix it. Loosen the nipple until the spoke comes out and flex it as much as necessary to move it behind the third spoke. If you are careful, you can flex it in such a way that you can start the nipple again without messing with the rim tape. If you need access, don't cut the tape if it's standard cloth rim tape. Just pull it off if you need to and then stick it back on. I just replaced half of the drive side spokes on a wheel because the previous owner had chewed them up running the chain up and over the big cog. Eight spokes took about 30 minutes without hurrying.
