We were lucky enough to catch up with revchuck at a Starbucks in Lake Charles on Sunday as he was on the way to work in New Orleans. We spent an hour blowing the wind/shooting the breeze/chewing the cud, so to speak.

Then we had a couple of great hours last night in Austin with mev, from over on the Touring forum. mev was one of the first people whose touring journals I followed way back around the turn of the century. He has had adventures across just about all continents, and will be doing the Tour d'Afrique next year. One of his epic tours was across Russia. And he's done around Australia and across the US. In brief, he's been one of my bicycle touring heroes -- and a nice guy to boot with always good, positive information to post on the Touring forum.
