I've been getting an annual flu shot every year in the fall, since turning 50. This was strongly suggested by my PCP. Never a reaction to any of them.
Bear in mind, it's not totally fool proof. I think they design the vaccine to fight what will be the most common forms of the nasty bug in a given year,
but there are always "wild cards" in the viral deck of cards.
