While I'm not adverse to finely-finished details on a frame, the imperfections on my boom-era European bikes do not detract from their appeal at all. I've come to appreciate that each one is an individual.
Case in point: My Gitane Champion du Monde.

And that is some beautiful paint. One of the things I really appreciate is the variety of colors from the Boom era. And maybe it was the lead? in the paint that made it stand up all these years.
Todays offerings are black or white, maybe with some red trim.
