The headset is most probably Raleigh standard, 26 x 1". So, Yes, BSC won't fit. Maybe ebay uk. For the rear brake, it has a brazed on bridge. Your best retrofit will be a Simplex derailleur cable adjuster. Small chance looses crews might have something that works.
