Just ignore the honkers if you are doing everything by the rules. The same people who honk at you probably honk at other drivers as soon as the lights turn green. Someone beeped at me while I was waiting for a red light this morning. I assume he/she wanted to make a right turn on red and wanted me to move out of the way, but I was in the lane for a reason, so someone wouldn't right hook me when the light turned green. I am not going to risk my life to save someone else 15 seconds of time.
