I got a pair and used them on my bike for a long Bike tour.

a Machine shop can make them.. you need the 9/16" R&L as a Bottoming tap
to do the female part..
my use was for a cool weather tour with Rain expected, so I gained clearance
between the pedal and crank arm for my Insulated shoe covers on my Feet.
