I have both 6 and 7 speed Campy freewheels. Magnet test came up with very weird results on the 7 speed: first cog is steel, second and third have a different finish and
look Ti, but fail the magnet test, too. Stranger still, when touching the magnet to the first cog, it literally jumped to the next cog - seems more steel content in the second and third cogs than the first.
The 6 speed is all-alloy bar the bearings, races and pawls.
Does anyone actually have Ti cogs on their Campy freewheel? Is it just a myth?
The 6 speed was used during the two years I was in London and it looks hardly worn. Probably has at least 2000 miles on it. The 7 speed is NOS.
Thinking of passing along the 7 speed at some point; I bought it for the neato-factor, but I'll never put it on anything.
