Here's another vote for SPD mountain shoes.
I'm using the standard double-sided clipless pedals, so getting started it's just stomp and go. Clipping and unclipping is pretty automatic, so heavy traffic isn't a bother.
As with others, walking is no problem, and I keep a pair of shoes at work.
+1 I've been riding clipless so long that it is actually hard to ride platforms. It is hard to move the pedal up when I am stopped-- clipless in DC traffic without a problem.
