You've said everyone is a know-it-all. I didn't say I know you, nor did I expressly say that I know more than you. I stated that many of us know a great deal more than you. Take, for instance, the quote below.

The few grams (not an ounce) you save off the chain is neglible. The shorter chain means that those remaining links are put under even more stress, as they have to make that sharp bend more frequently than a longer chain would. Then there's the matter of a smaller cog having even less material to it. That hole in the middle of it is surrounded by less metal now. There is a point of diminishing returns, which will quickly become evident. Anyone that's at least 20 years old has seen huge evolutionary changes in the design of BMX components, and has seen a few trends and fads come and go. I'm sure in time the 8 tooth cog will be proven as nothing more than a gimmick. Of course, I'm only a retailer with a background in metallurgy, and I've only been riding for about 30 years. How much experience do you have?
