Punctured tyre, tube and rim. How much do I replace?

Hi, I was riding home tonight after work and managed to flick a timber screw into my rear wheel.
It went straight through the tyre, the tube (both sides) and into my rim.
The tube is an obvious throw away.
The tyre I'm going to keep. I'm really impressed with how little damage the tyre sustained. The screw was a 8g 40mm timber self drive. I had to wind it out of the tyre and the hole it left is not worth talking about.
The rim however has a 5mm hole in the seat of it. Its not jagged now as I pushed any possible sharp edges down.
My attitude normally is to replace things like that, but, its not a cheap rim, its a rear wheel and its so close to Christmas I doubt I'll be able to get it rebuilt.
I was planning on doing some riding over the next two weeks. Its summer in the southern hemisphere. Distances would have been 50-100kms.
Should I replace the rim? Should I fit a garter to help support the tube? should I try and get it welded and filled? As its a Ksyrium elite I don't know if its possible.
Love to hear ideas.
