I've never known a rim to lose structural soundness form an impact that didn't materially bring it out of true. So, from your description, I gather the rim is OK, except for the dimple or roughness where the nail gouged it. I'd file, or emery out any burrs, then either fill the dimple or hole with a bit of body filler if it's deep, or some nail polish if shallow. As long as you present a smooth surface without any recess the tube could blow down into, you'll be fine.
