Its significance is somewhat a personal question. A light rider will notice the acceleration difference between a 20lb bike and a 15lb bike. Some of the guys that are 250lbs of muscle, less so. That regular Langster feels pretty darn heavy, but I would expect the pro to be competitive.

As I think Bitingduck has mentioned, in races that have lots of speed changes, like a points race, one does feel the effect of a heavier bike as it takes more energy to accelerate and decelerate it.
In time trials it's less of an issue as once you get the weight moving, it becomes useful momentum.
