A sudden change in behavior of both shifters, my first suspect is also the grease being thicker at colder temperatures. I have this problem with an older set of brifters. On a cold morning they don't ratchet. I need to thin the old dehydrated grease with some spray lube as others have pointed. This works well on trigger shifters or brifters. Though on the trigger shifters I usually turn upside down and pull off the face plate to spray depending on the model. My fav spray lube for this process.
