Bikes: 2015 Novara Safari, 2008 Trek 7.3 FX, 1988(?) Giant Iguana, 2014 Salsa Mukluk

I found the difference quite substantial on my 7.3 FX. The 35s are probably running at 60 psi whereas the 28 Gatorskins run at 100 psi. Add to that that the 35s most likely have tread and the Gatorskins are smooth. A lot less road contact and thus less friction.
