Still running 30 year old Super Record on one bike that I bought brand new, had very few issues, just basic maintenance. Love the positive shifting and elegant styling that was unmatched for its' time. Kinda hard to explain to some not from my era, but the shear beauty and prestige of Campy made me want to ride like Sean Kelly, Lemond, etc..
Made a huge jump to a 10 speed Record gruppo in 2003. I love the shifting of the FD (micro-trimming), great brakes and durability. Stolen by some Ahole a year ago...Now running SR 11 speed gruppo with much appreciation. Same great shifting, braking, durability, etc..The one thing I miss from the 10 speed gruppo is the lever design-just fit my hands and riding style better. Can't stress enough how consistent all the components work, and to my liking!
I've ridden Shimano equipped bikes and never developed an ease for shifting with the brake levers? I seemed to touch the brakes a little while shifting. I guess with practice this would eventually not be problem? Also, I prefer the more positive shifting of Campy overall, Shimano felt too light and vague IMO. Lastly, it's just painful for me to see a beautiful Italian frame running Shimano, or worse, SRAM-blah! For me, the beauty my Campy equipped bike possesses inspires me all the more!
