Bikes: The keepers: 1969 Magneet Sprint, 1971 Gitane Tour de France, 1973 Raleigh Twenty, 3 - 1986 Rossins.

Being both numerically anal and a bookkeeper (am I being redundant?), of course I've spreadsheeted my mileage for the year. Just like I've done every year since 2006. And the results:

Mileage: 6704.03
Mileage ridden split between two modern (indexing, brifters, etc.) bikes: 718.3
Mileage ridden on three not-modern but not vintage (less than 25 years old) bikes: 1760.35
Mileage split between twelve (three sold during the year) vintage (25+ years old) bikes: 4225.38

Highest single mileage bike was my '91 Swhwinn CrissCross at 1041.40. It's also my daily commuter and spent six months at the Honda shop as my lunch time errand runner.
Lowest single mileage bike was my '90 Schwinn Paramount at 351.96. It only got on the road in September, and is a tri/time trial bike, so it's use will be somewhat limited.
Noteworthy of the stable were my '68 Ranger (Phillips) 3-speed at 419.34 (it's the current bike at the office) and 381 miles for my Raleigh Lenton Grand Prix. I was quite surprised at the final figure.
Also, my Magneet cracked the 5000 mark this year, ended at 5058.60. Poguemahone gave me that bike back in 2006.

It was a break even year: 3 bikes sold (UO-8, Roger Riviere, and Trek 460) and three replacements (Lambert, Paramount and the GT Tachyon). With two more waiting in the wings for this year (Schwinn Super Sport and PX-10E). And I've run out of bikes that I'm willing to sell.

And for the new year, I firmly promise to ride less. Seriously. I over-pushed a bit this year, racking up the numbers (and still coming up 135 miles shy of 2007, my best year ever), and a lot of times riding on days when I was doing it for the numbers, not for the enjoyment of riding. The plan is to drop back to my more or less average of 5200-5500 miles for the year. That should keep me healthy, and still keep a premium on the enjoyment side of the sport. And if I really don't feel like riding that day, I put my feet up, grab a beer, and veg.
