It's not just cycling. Things are worse everywhere. Think of a pool of water and a few animals congregate and drink peacefully. Fast forward and the animals breed and overpopulate. The pool is crowded and fights for space are inevitable.

Basically we have to cut the population of the earth by at least 1/100 to even consider stabilizing.

Problem with that idea is that our economic system requires growth to work. So there will be talk about sustainability and conservation but nothing will actually be done. Best thing you or I can do is not have children.

However, when the economy slows down as a result of population stability, governments begin to panic and they offer payments for people to have more children.
