Man that looks CHEAP.
BTW, it's the clamp holding the brifter to the right side of the bars that's the silver area, it's exposed cause the bar tape doesn't cover it. It's not a button.
I actually can't see the other part. Cause it looks like the brake lever assy just pulls back and the minor lever behind it makes a shift in 1 direction.
