To explain, Dunk's around here is apparently not about "drinking coffee" as us outsiders would have assumed. It's part of a local morning ritual of affirmation, that the sun still rises in the east, the roads still turn in on themselves, and the Red Sox are still making regrettable trades.
I dunno about "from" Boston, I didn't grow up here...but I've been here full-time for 6+ years now. Really it's more just about getting quick and cheap caffeine fix without getting one of the canned coffee drinks from CVS next door to where I work! (which, ironically, is basically next door to Fenway Park, and I'm not a baseball fan at all!)
