Sorry, I just noticed your post from the other day.
Our opinions on this may actually be closer to each other than I realized. I guess my point is just that any gyroscopic effect, (which, in and of itself has generated controversy amongst physicists), that occurs is going to be negligible when wheel friction, bicycle weight and other factors are figured into the equation.
