As to WAILING on the bike, I always remove and reinstall bottom brackets while the bike is still has both wheels installed and I have the wheels on the floor. I don't want to put that much load on either the repair stand or on the frame tube or seatpost.

well, this pole is on MY property, and ONLY serves the drop to my house. I don't leave the bike clamp or the lock thing in it, so all thats left on the pole is the black part.

good point re: torquing with wheels on ground, but my hybrid's frame is pretty sturdy, its not like this is a fragile racing bike.
