I wanted to ride ssssoooooo bad this morning -- the first day with sunshine this week -- but it just wasn't safe. We had a quickly moving "snowstorm" last night that dropped about 2" of snow after dark and there was lots of black ice on roads this morning. This was my most challenging week for bike commuting since we had 9 days in a row of temperatures over 100 F last July. It rained every day this week until today, and it felt like an accomplishment managing to ride two days.
Look on the bright side tarwheel, you can skip two days every week and still have the same mileage as do I.
We missed out on the snow, and there was no black ice but I was forced to an alternate route due to rising water levels. I was startled to pass by another commuter this morning. In wet freezing weather, on those roads, I've never seen one in before. He was probably detouring just like I was now that I think of it.
