I'd keep the non-indexed downtube shifters and original shimano 600 derailleurs - I am assuming they'd work with the 9spd wheel but you know what happens when one assumes......

The rear hub with bent axle is a Malliard 600 sealed with QR. Is an axle replacement fairly easy DIY on these? I am willing to try it - what do I have to lose?
A LBS can likely match the bent axel.....There is nothing magical about dual pivots.I actually prefer simgle pivot 105 or 600s with decent pads and clean rims...If you insist on DPs PM me.I have a box full of very clean ones that need a good home at reasonable price. Shifters and RD should work with 9 speed cassette in friction mode. You can also use a shimano 8/9 speed wheel with a 7 speed HG cassette and 4.5mm spacer.
