Thickness for wheel mounting brackets.

https://catalog.lib.fit.edu/Summon/R...ions_076834841

"The brackets are flat 10-gauge steel plates, with three bolt holes and a slot to receive the bicycle wheel axle."

This abstract describes this sort of bracket being used for wood carts and repurposed wheels. Will 10 gauge, (9/64") thick steel plate be thick and rugged enough for a touring trailer? The frame will be 1" X 1/8" Aluminum angle which could be doubled-up for the surface of the steel plate.
