I'm hesitant to give advice, but since you asked (and since I've had similar back issues--helped much by a stretching and core conditioning program), I would go with the Roubaix. I gave both bikes a relatively short test ride. Honestly, I wasn't that crazy about the Tarmac. Your results, of course, may vary....
