South Mountain Park is the
biggest municipal park in the country. The biggest state park is
Adirondack state park in New York State. It started the whole public park concept. It is larger than the National Parks of Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier, and Great Smoky Mountains combined! It is the largest park and the largest state-level protected area in the contiguous United States, and the largest National Historic Landmark.
I love the Adirondaks. Ive hiked to the top of mount marcy several times.mice also cycle toured through lake placid and other parts of the Adirondaks three times. And ive hiked the secound highest mountain after marcy, but im blanking out what it is. For me id nominate them adirondaks (with the smokies second place) my favorite outdoor area on the east coast.
